How to play

Misère tic-tac-toe is the game you know turned upside down: get three in a row and you lose. Everything else stays the same. Two players take turns putting their mark in an empty square, X goes first, and a mark never moves once it's down. Finish a row, a column or a diagonal with your own marks and you lose, right there. If the board fills up and nobody has made a line, it's a draw.

It sounds easy until you run out of safe squares. Every mark you put down is one more you have to keep out of a line, and the quickest loss only takes five moves. X can hold the draw, but only by opening in the centre.
